Wood Floors....SAVED!
Wood floors are one of the most difficult structural elements of a home to restore after a serious water damage incident.
I will write a blog post about the types of wood flooring and their specific issues with water, but for now, the floor in question: The original plank flooring in a home built in the 1850's.
This is not a floor covering, this is the floor in the home that the interior walls were built on top of. If they could not be saved, the process of cutting them out and replacing them would have been astronomical.
Our use of our desiccant dehumidifier was able to draw enough moisture out of the planks to return them to their original position and shape.
The floors will still need to be lightly sanded and refinished, but that will be a much easier and less expensive job than replacement.
This is another reason to rely on the professionals at SERVPRO of Dubuque!
