Surface mold in closet
During the winter we often find homes that have surface mold in closets or unused rooms. Normally, this is a result of humidity in the home condensing on cool exterior walls. In this case, the humidity setting on the furnace was set too high and the exterior walls and windows were weeping with moisture most of the winter.
Fortunately, due to lack of air movement there was very little contamination of mold spores elsewhere in the home.
Now that the remediation has taken place, the homeowner is taking steps to maintain better environmental conditions in the home to prevent the mold coming back.
