Mold on concrete
Here is an example of mold on a concrete basement wall.
Mold needs 3 things to grow, moisture, proper temperature and a food source.
In this case, there was plenty of moisture and the temperature was conducive to mold growth. Concrete is not a food source, however, the dirt and dust that had adhered to the wall was an adequate food source.
The post remediation photo on the right shows that the mold has been cleaned off. As long as good environmental conditions are maintained in the basement to control the moisture level the mold should not come back.
